Apart from the courses offered, one of the basic aims of the Ionian University is to support academic research and the production of knowledge. The University provides every means available for the promotion of these activities, either drawing on its own financial resources or using national and European funds.
The Operational Programme for Education and Initial Vocational Training (O.P. Education) for instance, finances the acquisition of specialised technical research equipment for libraries, laboratories etc., supports postgraduate programmes, as well as special lectures and seminars, thus opening new roads to original and at times truly innovative research. There are other programmes that also promote these goals, such as Interreg and the Operational Programme Information Society; the latter, apart from providing technical equipment, has also supported the implementation of new technologies in research and has helped the development of new ways of knowledge diffusion.
In this section you will find information and links concerning research and the way it is conducted by the Research Committee and the Laboratories of the Ionian University, as well as links to the websites of selected recent research ptojects of the University.
