The first Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2019, organized by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University (within the framework of the CIAK Intereg program) took place in Corfu from the 29th of November until the 1st of December 2019.
The festival culminated in Sunday, December the 1st, 2019, in the Ionian Academy's ceremony hall, where the awards' announcement ceremony was held. The ceremony started by the scientific supervisor of the project and Assistant Professor, Michail Panagopoulos and then Assistant Professor and member of the Festival Jury, from the University of Aegean, Panayiotis Kyriakoulakos referred to the work of the evaluation committee.
The awards are divided into jury awards and audience awards. The audience awards came from an electronic voting system that was available to the public during the days of the festival, which received enthusiastic reviews.
The awards were announced in the following order:
- Professional Awards (Jury) by awarded director and scriptwriter, Alexander Avranas
- Student Awards (Jury) by the President of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, Professor Nikolaos Grigorios Kanellopoulos
- Professional Awards (Audience) by Dean of the Faculty of Music & Audiovisual Arts, Professor Andreas Floros
- Student Awards (Audience) by Assistant Professor of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, Michail Panagopoulos

The 1st Professional Competition Award (Jury) won EUR 1,000, the 1st Student Competition Award (Jury) won EUR 500, while the 1st Student Competition Award (Audience) won one DSLR D 3500 Nikon Camera, sponsored by Nikon.
The ceremony ended with the overall festival's report by the Director of the Festival and Associate Professor of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, Konstantinos Tiligadis.
Then the screening of the award-winning films took place.
