Teleconference on the prospects for cooperation between primary and secondary education in Greece and China

A teleconference on the cooperation between primary and secondary schools of the Ionian Islands region and the Chinese region of Qingdao recently took place at the Ionian Academy. It is an action of the Hellenic Sinology Center, established in partnership with the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) and the Ionian University.

The teleconference was attended by the Rector of the Ionian University, Professor Andreas Floros, the Director of the Hellenic Sinology Center and holder of the UNESCO Chair on Threats to Cultural Heritage of the Ionian University, Professor Stavros Katsios, the Executive Director of the Hellenic Sinology Center and member of the Steering Committee of the UNESCO Chair, Dr. Elena Avramidou, the Director of the Institute of Educational Policy, Assistant Professor of the Ionian University, Spyros Doukakis and the Regional Director of Education of the Ionian Islands, Petros Angelopoulos.

On behalf of the Chinese side, BLCU Professor and President of the World Sinology Center, Mr. XuBaofeng, Ms. Zhang Chengxia, Member of the Education Committee and Deputy Director of the Education and Sports Bureau of the New Region of the West Coast of Qingdao, Ms. Wang Ying, Educational Counsellor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Greece and Ms. Sun Jianhua, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Culture of China and Expert of the World Sinology Center.

The teleconference ended with the agreement on the next step, which will include bilateral agreements between primary and secondary schools, in the context of strengthening and promoting educational and intercultural exchanges between the Ionian Islands Region and the New West Coast Region of Quingdao.
