Odissi is one of the oldest dance forms and traces its origins back to the 2nd century B.C. The theme of Odissi is completely associated with religion. Dance was considered a way of worship and the dancers together with the accompanying artists were dedicated to the deities.
The Odissi classical dance group will be led by Ms Kavita Dwivedi, one of the leading exponents of Odissi in India today.
