2nd Project Meeting and 1st Hybrid Open Action within the framework of the SusTour project

On June 29 and 30, 2023, the Second Project Meeting of the partners of the SusTour project – “Joint e-course on sustainable management of tourism destinations” funded by Erasmus+ in the axis KA220-HED was successfully held in Granada. The two-day actions were organized by the University of Granada and took place in the Teleconference Room of the Faculty of Education of the University of Granada and in the Board Meeting Room of the Alhambra and Generalife, Palace of Carlos V.

On June 29, 2023, an in-depth discussion was held regarding the course of implementation of the actions of the second work package, with special reference to the creation of qualifications profiles for the executives of the sustainable management agencies of the tourist destination and discussed the differences that exist in the way of development and renewal of qualification outlines in Greece, Spain and Italy. Also, the planning of the actions in the third work package was discussed in detail and the target location was determined.

Administrative, procedural and financial issues related to the first work package were extensively discussed on 30 June 2023. After the completion of the two-day working meeting, the First Hybrid Multiplier Event of the project took place from noon to afternoon. The open action was attended by groups of stakeholders (stakeholders) related either to sustainable tourism or to tourism destination management agencies. The distinguished tourism and hospitality academic at Bournemouth University Professor Dimitrios Buhalis made an inspirational online intervention at the open event.

Two (2) representatives from each project organization participated in the working meeting. Specifically, the project team consists of the following agencies: a) Universita Degli Studi di Roma la Sapienza – Coordinator (Italy), b) Euricon EPE (Greece), c) Universidad de Granada (Spain), d) Ionian University (Greece), e) CNA - Confederazione Nazionale dell'Artigianato e della Piccola e Media Impresa (Italy), f) Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife (Spain).

The Ionian University was represented by the academic staff members of the Department of Tourism: the Vice-Rector for Research and Development, Professor Christina Beneki and the Institutional Scientific Manager of the Project, Assistant Professor Naoum Mylonas.
