International CIOFF® Festival of Mediterranean Cultures [Corfu, 6-10 September 2023]

The National Section of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts CIOFF®, official partner of UNESCO, the IONIAN UNIVERSITY and the Educational & Cultural Association of Sinies – Corfu,  organize the International CIOFF® Festival of Mediterranean Cultures, in Corfu, 6-10 September 2023. More than 450 participants from 16 Mediterranean countries, members of CIOFF®, will present - in a multi-cultural musical feast - their traditional music, dances and national repertoire, accompanied by traditional musical instruments and in traditional costumes.

The International Festival is under the Patronage of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and it is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Tourism, the UNESCO Chair of Ionian University about the Intangible Culture, the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO, the Region of Ionian Islands, the Municipality of Corfu, the Municipality of Northern Corfu, the Central Union of Chambers of Greece, the Commerce Chamber of Corfu, the Hotel Union of Corfu, the Scouts Union, the Association “San Giacomo” Civil Society Network of Mediterranean Historical Cities, the Chef’s Club of Corfu, Corfu Philharmonic Company – F.E.K., the  Philharmonic Company “Mantzaros” and other Authorities and Partners.  It is also being held with the support of the Dpt of Audio & Visual Arts, the Dpt of Foreign Languages, Translation & Interpreting, the Dpt of Digital Media & Communication, the Dpt of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University, the UNESCO Chair of Ionian University on Intangible Culture, the Institute of Hellenic Music Heritage, the Prefecture of Ionian Islands, the Municipality of Corfu, the Municipality of Northern Corfu, and of other associations. Communication sponsors are the Greek National Radio and TV Broadcasting [E.R.T.], the local E.R.T. in Corfu, and other local media.

In the framework of the International CIOFF® Festival of Mediterranean Cultures and on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention on Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Ionian University organizes an International Scientific Conference on “Music and Dance in the Mediterranean as Intangible Cultural Heritage and Fields of Osmosis. Cultural spatialities and historical temporalities", which will take place on Wednesday 6^th September 2023, 12 am - 8 pm, at the Ionian Academy of Corfu.
