Inauguration of the Digital Biomedicine Institute

The Ionian University will hold an inauguration for the Digital Biomedicine Institute of the University Research Center.

The inauguration will take place in Zakynthos, October 18, 2023, 19:00, in the Amphitheater of the Department of Environment of the Ionian University (M. Minotou- Giannopoulou 26, Panagoula, Zakynthos). The Rector of the Ionian University, Professor Andreas Floros and the President of the University Research Center, Professor Panagiotis Vlamos will attend the opening.

The Institute's mission is the digitization of biomedical and health services, the creation of new knowledge through the promotion of science, research and innovation. Digital Biomedicine is expected to be one of the most important factors of digital transformation in the coming years. Digital technologies have the potential to radically transform the industry, however the challenges they pose are significant: regulatory barriers, financial constraints, but also difficulties in effectively digitizing patient data.

The main objectives of the Institute are to carry out basic and applied research and to transfer know-how and technology to the scientific subjects related to digital biomedicine, to exploit the research results with the aim of benefiting society and the country, through the digitization of digital services, medical data and health data, the contribution to public health policies, the effective interaction of research and education, participating in the single area of higher education and research and the European research area, but also the education of social groups and professional fields in matters of digital biomedicine and digital health.
