2026 marks the Year of the Fire Horse, starting on February 17th. In Chinese tradition, the horse symbolizes confidence, freedom, and independence, while the fire element adds boldness and energy.
Τhe element of fire refers to Chinese astrology, where there are five elements in total (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water), each cycling every 60 years, giving every year a unique character and influence.
In Chinese tradition, each year follows a 12-year zodiac cycle, with every year represented by a specific animal. The Chinese New Year usually starts between January 21 and February 20, as it follows the lunar calendar.
A week before the New Year, the Festival of the Kitchen God, also known as the Little New Year, takes place. This week is dedicated to Zao Jun, the Kitchen God. The Spring Festival itself begins on the first day of the lunar calendar and lasts 15 days, concluding with the Lantern Festival. The celebration symbolizes renewal, family reunions, and new beginnings.
