M-POHL Public Webinar on Health Literacy Entitled “The Role of Health Literacy in Shaping Policies and Services in Health Promotion”

The World Health Organization's Action Network on Measuring Population and Organizational Health Literacy (M-POHL: Action Network on Measuring Population and Organizational Health Literacy) invites stakeholders, healthcare professionals, researchers, and all interested citizens to participate in the public webinar entitled “The Role of Health Literacy in Shaping Policies and Services in Health Promotion”, which will take place on 6 October 2026, from 09:30 to 10:30 CET, as part of the 22nd M-POHL Members' Meeting.

The programme features a keynote presentation by Rade Pribaković, Head of the Centre for the Management of Prevention and Health Promotion Programmes at the National Institute of Public Health of Slovenia, focusing on the development of Health Promotion Centres in Slovenia. In addition, a panel discussion will explore the contribution of M-POHL to health promotion forty years after the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion. The discussion will be moderated by Christina Dietscher, M-POHL Policy Chair, and Diane Levin-Zamir, M-POHL Research Chair.

Professor Petros Kostagiolas (Principal Investigator of M-POHL HLS24-GR for Greece) emphasizes that the webinar will highlight the pivotal role of Health Literacy in shaping effective, equitable, and people-centred policies. Drawing on perspectives from research, the implementation of best practices, and health policy development at both European and international levels, the event will provide a comprehensive overview of how health literacy can contribute to improved health promotion strategies and outcomes.

As the National Study Center of M-POHL in Greece, the Ionian University actively contributes to the European effort to strengthen Health Literacy and to promote the use of scientific evidence for enhancing health promotion policies and services.
