The Audio-Visual Arts Department will present its course retrospectively in a digital art show which will be held at the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) 20 to May 21, 2017. The show will include selected works of graduate, postgraduate students, Phd students and professors, and works by internationally renowned artists.

The Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University organizes for the second year in a row the interdisciplinary conference "Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science", including theoretical and artwork presentations. In 26-28 May 2017 the conference will take place once more in the island of Corfu, Greece. Deadline for proposals: March 10, 2017.

The 11th Audiovisual Arts Festival 2017 expands in time and space. Artistic, scientific and educational activities will take place from May 20 to June 11, 2017.

The Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University proclaimed the Archbishop of Athens, Hieronymus II, as an Honorary Doctorate. The proclamation ceremony was hold on Monday, December 12th, 2016, at 19:00 in the Ionian Academy.

Having been established on 2004 and following twelve years of presence in the Greek Academia, the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of Ionian University will have the honor to nominate as the first Honorary Doctors of the Department, Professor Roy Ascott and Professor Stelarc.

The 11th Photography Exhibition of the Photography Workshop of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, Ionian University, will take place from 11 to May 25, 2016. Opening: Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 20:00, Old Fortress Prison.

An exhibition with audiovisual material and documents from the recent project of the famous Cypriot-Australian artist Stelarc, begins on May 18th, 2016 at the Municipal Gallery of Corfu (Old Town). The exhibition takes place within the activities of the 10th annual Audiovisual Arts Festival organized by Ionian University (May 17th – 22nd, 2016) and will remain open to the public until May 23rd.

Eight unique women will be awarded by the "EXALEIPTRON" Piraeus Group Women in Arts, Letters, Culture, Science. Marianna Strapatsaki, artist and former Associate Professor of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, will be awarded with the Prize for the Art of New Media.

Dr Adam Zaretsky, well-known bioartist and professor at Marist College, New York, USA, will perform a Bioart workshop, within the 10th Audiovisual Arts Festival, taking place in Corfu during May 2016.

The course of Advanced Drawing of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts organizes a group show with students' work under the theme: “Improbable Probabilities - 10 variations on a theme” [8-19 March 2016]. The opening event will take place at Corfu Gallery on Tuesday March 8, 2016 at 20:00.

Groundbreaking pioneers of contemporary art and science will be this year’s keynote speakers for the international interdisciplinary conference of the Ionian University taking place in Corfu: British Roy Ascott, Australian with Cypriot origin Stelarc, (both winners of "Golden Nica" at Ars Electronica), and Greek astrophysicist Dr Manos Danezis.

As part of the Summer Music Academy 2015, this Saturday, July 18th at 22:30, a representation of the work: architectural projection mapping Variations on Construction" will take place at St. George's Church inside the Old Fortress of Corfu.

The “Kostis Palamas” program and the the Department of Audio and Visual Arts organizes a School of seminar courses dedicated to the theme of “Art and Communication” in cooperation with the 9th Festival of Audiovisual Arts. Sound In Motion symposium is organized by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts and ERHMEE (Electroacoustic Music Research and Applications Laboratory) of the Ionian University in collaboration with EASTN (European Art Science Technology Network). It constitutes of concerts of electroacoustic music, audiovisual events and presentations, which will take place in Corfu, between 27-30 May 2015, at the Old Ionian Parliament.
