The Department of History and Digital Humanities of the Ionian University is organising the international conference “Re-examining AI / Rethinking Modernity: Critical philosophical, anthropological and interdisciplinary perspectives on technology”, which will take place on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 October 2026 at the Ionian Academy in Corfu (face-to-face in “Georgios Grammatikakis Auditorium”).
The conference focuses on contemporary developments in Artificial Intelligence and examines their implications and challenges through philosophical, anthropological, historical, political and interdisciplinary approaches. The programme includes thematic sessions and keynote speeches featuring academics and researchers from Greece and abroad. Topics include, among others, Artificial Intelligence and democracy, subjectivity, creativity and aesthetics, algorithmic governance, large language models, as well as historical, philosophical and psychological approaches to AI.
The language of the conference is English.
As part of the conference, two keynote lectures will be delivered:
- Thursday 22 October, Keynote by Agostino Cera, “Vivo, ergo cogito: on A(I)poria (AI as an impossible metaphor)”
- Friday 23 October, Keynote by Nathan Ross, “Thinking in the Age of its Technical Reproducibility”
The conference is organised by the Laboratory of Political Philosophy and Digital Technologies and the research programme A(I)nthropology during the Anthropocene, with the support of the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (AICENE project code 23539).
