The Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) Evaluation and Accreditation Council has accredited the new Undergraduate Study Programme of Food Science and Technology of the Department of Food Science and Technology of the Ionian University as fully compliant to the Standards for Quality Accreditation of New Postgraduate Study Programmes of the HAHE and to the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) for study level 6 of the National and European Qualifications Framework.

On May 15, 2025, the Hellenic Sinology Center was visited by the President of Beijing Language and Culture University, Professor Ni Haidong, accompanied by Professor Xu Baofeng, President of the World Sinology Center, Professor Luo Lin, Vice President of the Academic Committee of BLCU and Dean of the Institute of International and Regional Studies and the School of Foreign Languages, and by Professor Guo Peng, Vice Rector and Dean of the Graduate School and the School of Humanities.
Ionian University Supported Art Researcher Explores Indigenous Dance as Anti-Colonial Resistance

Ghazal Ramzani, a Berlin-based Iranian dancer and choreographer, has completed groundbreaking research connecting indigenous dance practices to anti-colonial and ecological movements across Europe supported by Ionian University. Ramzani, who received funding through the Rewilding Cultures Mobility Conversation program in 2024, traveled by train across Europe to interview practitioners of indigenous dances rooted in resistance movements. Ramzani holds a Master of Fine Arts in Contemporary Performative Arts from the University of Gothenburg and received formal training in Kathak dance at the National School of Kathak in New Delhi. She was previously awarded the Indian Council of Arts and Culture recognition and the Artisens Vanner scholarship.

Beginning in the academic year 2025–2026, the Department of History within the Faculty of Humanities at the Ionian University will be renamed to the "Department of History and Digital Humanities". The department’s curriculum will be expanded to include a new digital dimension, aimed at addressing contemporary academic needs and strengthening the digital skills of its graduates, without altering the Department’s core academic discipline.
