On Monday, 16 March 2026, the Department of Tourism of the Ionian University welcomed 90 students from Potamos Primary School and the 4th Experimental Primary School of Corfu “Athenagoreio”, accompanied by their teachers.

The Ionian University Research Day was successfully held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the exhibition space of the Corfu Port Authority, as an open celebration of scientific knowledge, creativity, and innovation, aiming to showcase the rich and multidimensional research output of the University and strengthen its connection with society.

This new open-access digital periodical, published by the  Postgraduate program Historical Research, Teaching and New Technologies and the Educational Innovation Lab of the Department of History and Digital Humanities at the Ionian University, provides a platform for scientific dialogue, critique, and communication.

The Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) Evaluation and Accreditation Council has accredited the new Postgraduate Study Programme 'Classics Today: Contemporary Issues through the Lens of Ancient Greek and Roman Thought' of the Department of History and Digital Humanities of the Ionian University as fully compliant to the Standards for Quality Accreditation of Postgraduate Study Programmes of the HAHE and to the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) for study level 7 of the National and European Qualifications Framework.

Ionian University actively participated in the Kick-off Meeting of the European project “AI-Enabled Skill-Building for Tourism and Hospitality: Bridging the Industry–Academia Divide (BIAD)”, which took place on 3–4 February 2026 at the premises of the project’s lead partner, Forma Camera, in Rome.

The international conference Towards Resilient Destinations: Integrating Nature, Culture and Tourism for Sustainable Futures (NEST) will take place in hybrid format on April 23–24, 2026 at the Ionian Academy, Corfu, Greece, and will also be available online. The 2025 edition of CEPE—Computer Ethics: Philosophical Enquiries was held from 24 to 26 September at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, gathering an international community of scholars and practitioners to reflect on one of the most pressing issues of our time: the ethical, normative, and philosophical challenges posed by artificial intelligence. Hosted by the Department of History, Cultural Heritage, Education and Society in collaboration with INSEIT, IHRC (DALMS, Ionian University), and the University for Peace, CEPE 2025 stood out both for the quality of its contributions and for its strong interdisciplinary character.

The Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University organizes the 8th International Conference Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges (DCAC-2026) which will be held in hybrid way - online and in the Ionian Academy in Corfu (Greece), on May 8-9, 2026. Extended submission deadline: 30 January 2026 (14.00 CET).

          Dr Avramidou concluded 2025 with a lecture at World Art History Institute (WAI), Shanghai International Studies University, on December 9, followed by another at Rixin College, Tsinghua University, on December 19.She also concluded her lectures for the semester at the Experimental Class at Beijing Language and Culture University.

The Animation Festival ICONA 2025, which took place from November 13th to 16th 2025, exclusively online, by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, was successfully completed. The festival program included both professional and student competitions. A total of 316 films from 100 countries were screened.
