The second Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2020, organized and promoted by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University had exceeded our expectations with more than 1.200 submissions.

Τhe fourth international conference "Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science" will take place November 26–28, 2020, exclusively online as TTT2020 Vienna/Online, an umbilical cord between what would be and what it is. Including theoretical and art practice presentations, TTT2020 continues to focus: (a) on questions about the nature of the forbidden and aesthetics of liminality as expressed in art that uses or is inspired by technology and science; (b) on the opening of spaces for creative transformation in the merging of science and art. TTT2020 Vienna/Online will have one unique streaming channel with a 12 hours program/day followed by a recorded re-stream for audiences in other time zones. This means 24h a day for three days non-stop! The program of TTT2020 is divided in four categories in a total of twenty-three Sessions, six Roundtables, five ArtBox events and three Open Mic Q&A sessions.

The KEDIVIM of the Ionian University organizes a training program entitled "Understanding Turkey through Elements of Language, Culture and Society" from 12 October 2020 to 25 June 2021 with Associate Professor George Michalakopoulos (Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting) as the Scientific Coordinator. Applications: 24 August-31 October 2020.

The Interactive Arts Laboratory 'inArts' of the Department of Audiovisual Arts of the Ionian University participates in the 16th Athens Digital Arts Festival with 70 works by undergraduate, graduate students, students of the newly established OPEN ART Lifelong Learning Program, graduates and faculty. The Exhibition is taking place in Asomaton square and the pedestrian street of Ermou (THISIO Station), from Thursday, October 8 until Sunday, October 18.

The team of Open Art, educational, training and lifelong learning program of the Ionian University, is pleased to announce the start of the 2nd course. The programme is distance learning and starts in the last week of October. Strict deadline for applications: 11 October 2020.

The summer holidays period for the administrative services of the Ionian University will last until August 16th, 2020.

The Academic Senate of Ionian University (Corfu, Greece)  has made the difficult decision to postpone all incoming and outgoing mobilities scheduled for the Winter Semester of the academic year 2020-2021 to the next Spring Semester or the next academic year, due to COVID-19. The Ecomuseum of Petriti and South Corfu takes shape through the cultural itineraries designed as part of the 'INTEREG VA' Greece-Italy 2014-2020 'FISH & CHIPS Project by the Department of History of the Ionian University (headed by K. Sbonias and A. Kapetanios).

The International Society for Ethics and Information Technology (INSEIT)/Joseph Weizenbaum Award in Information and Computer Ethics is awarded every two years to an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of information and computer ethics through his/her research, service, and vision.

OPEN ART, a Training and Lifelong Learning Program of the Ionian University (KEDIVIM) offers for free a complete Art Practice program in the fields: Arts, Technology, Sciences, Society, with the practical contribution of the Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF).

The programme proposal with the title: Network on Privacy-Aware Audio- and Video-Based Applications for Active and Assisted Living (Acronym: GoodBrother) has been accepted in the framework of the Horizon 2020, EU COST ACTIONS.

The collaboration with the Ionian University of Greece resulted into another successful terminology project, this time about Brexit, Korea Crisis, Cyclic Economy and Waste Reduction, Disinformation and Cybersecurity, Inequality, Terrorism and Youth Empowerment.
