What does it really mean to translate? Translation is often the essential prerequisite for accessing a universal, multiple, diverse culture. In our latest issue, we explore what this really entails.

We present here the new international journal Rhetoric & Science, which belongs to the field of Classical Philology, Rhetoric and Science, which started in April 2019 as a follow-up activity of the International Conference ‘Mapping the Rhetoric of Science Writing in Antiquity and Beyond’ held at the History Department of the Ionian University in March 2019 and organized by the Centre for the Study of the Ancient World (CSAW).

The present volume is a Festschrift in honour of the distinguished Byzantinist Costas N. Constantinides. The title of the volume reflects Professor Constantinides’ major contribution to the fields of Greek palaeography, editions of Byzantine texts, Byzantine history, scholarship and education, and Cypriot manuscripts and culture. | Editors: Charalambos Dendrinos, University of London, UK; Ilias Giarenis, Ionian University, Corfu, Greece.

The volume was edited by the Professor of the Department of History of I.U. Vaios Vaiopoulos, and includes an article by himself and Prof.Em. Theodosiou Pylarinos, as well as articles by Prof. Nikolaos Karapidakis and Assoc. Prof. Elias Giarenis.

The book by Dr Konstantinos D. Politis, a Postdoctoral scholar at the Ionian University, presents the archaeological work of two decades, under his direction with the participation of Dr Georgios Papaioannou, Associate Professor in the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University, at biblical Zoara located at modern Ghor as-Safi in Jordan, the lowest place on the earth's surface.

In September 2016 the international collective volume entitled "Language and Nation Crossroads and Connections" was published by Waxmann Publishing GmbH which has been edited by Anastasia Parianou, Associate Professor of DFLTI, along with Guri Ellen Barstad, Arnstein Hjelde, Sigmund Kvam and John Todd.
