UNESCO is convening a 30th anniversary celebration of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme at its headquarters in Paris from 3-4 November 2022.

Appointment of Professor Stavros Katsios, Department of Foreign Languages Translation and Interpreting with his deputy the Professor Stephanos Vlachopoulos, Department of Translation and Interpreting as representative of the Ionian University to the Supervisory Board of Certified Translators of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This EU-UNESCO Conference organized on June 9, 2022 at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris Dr. Christos Tsirogiannis head of the WG Illicit Antiquities' Trafficking of the UNESCO Chair on Threats to Cultural Heritage and Cultural Heritage -related Activities at the Ionian University, was a invited speaker at the panel.

The EU-funded Horizon 2020 SIENNA project, where the Ionian University is a partner, has been awarded a Champions Certificate for its contribution to the ethical dimensions of the Information Society at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum. Maria Bottis, Professor of Information Law at the Ionian University, coordinated the Ionian University’s contribution to the SIENNA project, which worked to ensure that human rights, fundamental freedoms, and ethical values are respected in the design, development and deployment of new and emerging technologies.

In times of new challenges that thousands of museums around the world are facing, immediate response and adaptation is essential so that they can function smoothly and ensure their viability. Responding to this volatile landscape, the Museum Collections of the Ionian University are organising a conference under the title Postmodern University Museums and the Digital Era.

On June 1-3, a meeting of the ASH-MA consortium for the design of a new Art, Science & Health MA program with participants from Croatia, Serbia and Greece, will take place in Corfu. The program was launched in February 2022 by the Croatian NGO Kontejner, Bureau of Contemporary Art Praxis and three universities: Academy of Fine Arts - University of Zagreb (Zagreb, Croatia), Department of Audio and Visual Arts - Ionian University (Corfu, Greece) and Faculty of Media and Communication - Singidunum University (Belgrade, Serbia).
