The Museum of the Ionian University is entering its 5th year of operation. Since its establishment, it has held activities, events, lectures and collaborations with local institutions and associations in all the Ionian Islands through the Ionian Islands Museums Network.

The fifth international conference Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science will take place September 27–29, 2023 in Valletta, Malta. TTT is an interdisciplinary and nomadic event, where both practitioners as well as theorists present and discuss the status of art-science and/or art & technology. TTT, created by Dalila Honorato, Assoc. Professor, Dept Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, is based on the support of a large informal network of international researchers and practitioners that develop their activities at the edge of art and science intersections. The conference language is English. Proposals must be sent electronically through the EasyChair submissions system until January 31st, 2023.

While the call for proposals to the conference Taboo – Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science 2023 taking place at the Malta Society of Arts in Valletta is open until the end of January 2023, the main core of the proceedings of TTT2020 Vienna/Online have just been released in an open access publication in digital format (e-Book), with ISBN number 978-960-7260-70-3.

Season's Greetings from the Team and the UNESCO Chair holder at the Ionian University

Do you want to understand and design digital Augmented Reality applications? Can you imagine visiting the museum in a different, more interactive way? The University Museum in collaboration with the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, offers to the general public the "Creative Workshop of Interactive Educational Experiences in the Museum using Augmented Reality".

The year 2022 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Greek-born pioneer composer and thinker Iannis Xenakis, and is accompanied worldwide by events dedicated to his memory and work. To honour this Greek-born musician, a marathon concert takes place at Athens Conservatory, on Saturday 17 December, presenting works inspired by his musical work and his reflections on science and technology and the role of muscles in society and the arts. This event, which takes place at the Athens Conservatory from 7 pm until 3:30 am the following day, features musicians and artists from ten different countries (Greece, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, England, Ireland, Germany, Turkey, United States).

The winner of the 2022 prestigious Weizenbaum Award for excellence in computer ethics has been awarded by the three - member Weizenbaum Award Committee to Professor Philip Brey of the University of Twente. The three members of the Committee were Maria Bottis, Director of the International Society for Ethics and Information Technology, Keith Miller, President of the  International society for Ethics and Information Technology and Herman Tavani, past President of the Society.

The Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University organized the 4th International Conference Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges (DCAC-2022) which took place on Friday 13 May 2022 online and on Saturday 14 May 2022, hybrid at the Ionian Academy in Corfu (Greece). The fourth Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2022, organized and promoted by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University had exceeded our expectations with more than 1.300 submissions.

UNESCO has convenend a 30th anniversary celebration of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme. This anniversary conference celebrated the accomplishments over the last three decades and advance authentic interdisciplinary dialogues and the cross-sectoral mobilization needed to confront complex challenges on the horizon.
