 Βιογραφικά

Miroslav Hristov is Professor of Violin, String Area Coordinator, and Director of the Ready for the World Music Series at the University of Tennessee. First prize-winner of the International Violin Competition "Dobrin Petkov," he was hailed by Fanfare Magazine for his "razor sharp technique" and a "full palette of tonal colors."  Hristov has performed in several international festivals and concert series, including the Musical Treasures series in Carnegie Hall, the Interharmony International Music Festival in Arcidosso, Italy, the Sofia Music Weeks International Festival, the Balabanov House Music Days, the Big Arts Concert Series in Florida, and the Fredell Lack Series in Houston, Texas. Recent performances include solo and chamber recitals in the national halls of Taiwan and Singapore. Hristov was First Prize winner of the International Violin Competition "Dobrin Petkov," and a prizewinner for the MTNA Collegiate String Performance Competition. Hristov has recorded for Centaur Records, Romeo Records, Divine Arts Records, Blue Griffin Records, and Bulgarian National Radio. As part of the internationally-acclaimed Kaleidos Duo with pianist, Vladimir Valjarevic, Dr. Hristov's recordings and performances have received rave reviews from The Strad Magazine, Fanfare, DUMA (Sofia, Bulgaria), and Lucid Culture (New York). Previously, Dr. Hristov served on the faculty of the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico, and has served as section leader (Concertmaster, Associate Concertmaster, and Principal Second) of numerous professional orchestras in Europe, Mexico, and the United States. A renowned pedagogue, his students have won numerous competitions at local, national, and international levels, and have been the recipients of prestigious scholarships, assistantships, and professional appointments across the country. Recent teaching awards include Tennessee Music Teachers Association Teacher of the Year, the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts Outstanding Teacher Award, and the University of Tennessee Chancellor’s and Alumni Awards for Excellence in Teaching. 

Spyros Gikontis is Associate Professor of violin and chamber music at the Music Department of the Ionian University, Greece. He has participated in numerous concerts as a soloist and as a member of chamber music ensembles in Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Poland, France, Austria (Arnold Schoenberg Center), England (Yorkshire Baroque Soloists), Belgium, Thailand and USA, for which he has received praise by the press. He has recorded for the Greek classical radio as well as for many CDs having a wide repertoire, ranging from baroque to contemporary music. For these recordings he has received praises by the Greek and the international press, such as the one by The Strad magazine. His artistic activities include performances as well as recordings -many of which debuts- of works by Greek composers (Mantzaros, Robotis, Lialios, Mitropoulos, Papaioannou, Baltas, Dragatakis, Antoniou, Kalogeras, Lekkas and Leotsakos). He has been a founder of Ionian Camerata and a founder member of Ionian Early Music Ensemble, Ionian Chamber Music Ensemble, Trio Koryfo, Quintet Mib Astor Piazzola, Duo Eight Strings and Duo Concertante. He organizes violin and chamber music seminars at the Summer Academy of the Ionian University. As a visiting professor he has given classes and concerts at the International Music Days of Brache in Germany, at the European Parliament in Brussels, at the Music Academy Karol Lipinski in Poland and at Universities of USA (Bowling Green State University, Toledo, William and Mary College in Virginia, Boston University, Kentucky University).  Finally, for many years he is the artistic manager of the Festival “Manos Hadjidakis’s Xanthi”. 

Dimitra Kokkinopoulou is a classical pianist based in Athens, Greece, a graduate of the Ionian University (2007-2012), Department of Music Studies, with a specialization in Piano, and holds a Piano degree (2007) and Harmony diploma (2006) from the National Conservatory. She then completed her Master of Musical Arts (Piano Performance, 2012-2014) at Bowling Green State University, Ohio, USA. In 2017, she completed her doctoral studies (Piano Performance) at the University of Nebraska‐Lincoln. Over the past 15 years, she has been deeply involved in chamber music with strings, woodwinds, and percussion, as well as collaborating with singers in works spanning the entire stylistic range of classical music. She has performed concerts in Greece, Germany, Portugal, Russia, Dubai and the United States of America. Since 2018, she has worked as a repetiteur with mezzo-soprano Irini Tsirakidou at the Municipal Conservatory of Korydallos. She is also a member of the Thesis Trio (Irini Tsirakidou – mezzo-soprano, Yiorgos Kaloudis – cello, classical Cretan lyra), with whom she performs works by Greek composers, giving concerts in Greece and Russia (Diaghilev Festival, Perm). Additionally, she collaborates with the theater group “Thea-tree”, presenting musical children’s performances and educational programs at the Theocharakis Foundation, the Maria Callas Museum, Megaron Music Hall, and in schools. Since 2021, she has been the accompanist for the Intercultural Choir of the Educational Programs of the National Opera of Greece. In 2022, she became an Academic Fellow at Ionian University (Department of Music Studies), focusing on piano accompaniment. She is a founding member of ARTience by_PhonoQuest (artience.gr), a non-profit organization that aims on creating a communication channel between science and the art of voice through seminars, conferences, and educational programs.
