An Innovative Program on History, Research, and Societies of the Adriatic

Adriatic Studies is the only master's program focusing on the study of the Adriatic region as a dynamic and historically rich geopolitical and cultural field. Through the innovative and interdisciplinary framework of the MA in Adriatic Studies, students gain an in-depth understanding of the region, its diverse components, and the intricate networks of mobility, trade, and exchange from the 14th to the 18th century.

The MA in Adriatic Studies offers:
- Flexible Distance Learning: All courses and seminars are conducted online, allowing students to participate from anywhere in the world.
- Interdisciplinary Approach: The program integrates history, anthropology, art history, geography, and international relations, offering a multidimensional perspective on the Adriatic.
- Rich Academic Content: Topics include trade and economy, cultural interactions, geopolitical conflicts, institutional developments, and communication networks.
- International Collaborations: The program is connected with universities, museums, research centers, and cultural institutions across the Adriatic region, providing networking and exchange opportunities.
- Practical Experience: In addition to theoretical courses, the program offers seminars and fieldwork activities that enhance students' knowledge and skills. It also provides training in policy-making and financial tools to develop professional competencies.
- Internships in an International Environment: Through Erasmus+, the UniAdrion network (in which the Ionian University participates), as well as Chambers of Commerce (FORUM AIC network members), municipalities, and regional organizations (FAIC and AIE networks) in Adriatic countries.

Program Structure
The Adriatic Studies program lasts for four semesters. The first three semesters consist of courses and seminars, while the fourth is dedicated to the completion of a master's thesis. The program culminates in the Colloquium in Corfu, where students present their research and participate in workshops. All courses, communication, and written work are conducted in English.
